THE SIECHEM MADURAI PANTHERS QUALIFY FOR THE PLAYOFFS

The Siechem Madurai Panthers held their nerves against the iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans to qualify for the playoffs in the Shriram Capital Tamil Nadu Premier League at India Cements Cricket Ground in Tirunelveli. iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans opted to bowl first in their final match of the TNPL 2023. The Siechem Madurai Panthers had a good start on the power play. Captain Hari Nishaanth took charge. Along with Suresh Lokeshwar, he added 68 (50) for the first wicket. Hari Nishaanth made 34 (27) before getting out to Manigandan. Aaditya, who replaced Hari Nishaanth in the inning, looked in good touch right from ball one. He added 36 (29) for the second wicket along with Lokeshwar. Aaditya dominated the partnership by scoring 23 out of 36 runs. Siechem Madurai Panthers reached the 100-mark in the 13th over. Lokeshwar got out immediately after that. The opener notched up 44 off 37 runs. He brought Swapnil Singh in. The all-rounder had to take up the responsibility in the absence of Washington Sundar. Swapnil Singh began his innings well. He smacked a six and a four off Karuppusamy in the 17th over but got out for 17 (15). Aaditya, who began to attack in the final five overs, chased a wide delivery off Ajith Ram and lost his wicket for 37 (28). However, Gurjapneet Singh brought the Siechem Madurai Panthers back into the attack by dismissing Vijay Shankar for 28 (22). The team needed 27 runs from 18 deliveries. Ajay Krishna's 19th over against Chepauk Super Gillies earlier in the tournament changed the fate of Siechem Madurai Panthers. His 4/18 helped the men from Madurai take down the defending champions. Once again, Ajay Krishna made an impact in the 19th over. He dismissed NS Chaturved in the first ball. Despite going for a six in the over, he finished well. Gurjapneet Singh was given the opportunity to decide the fate of the Siechem Madurai Panthers in the tournament. The team needed to defend 17 runs in six deliveries. The match went down to the wire as Bhuvaneswaran smashed a six and a four in the first two deliveries. He dismissed Anirudh Sita Ram in the fourth delivery, and iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans needed six runs from two deliveries. A slower delivery allowed Gohulmoorthi to take a single and bring Bhuvaneswaran back to the strike. Gurjapneet Singh executed his yorker well in the final delivery to take the Siechem Madurai Panthers to the final four. With this, the defending champions, Chepauk Super Gillies, are out of the tournament. Siechem Madurai Panthers becomes the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs.

Siechem Madurai Panthers bowled well to produce more dot deliveries in the middle overs,as a result, iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans had to go for big shots.

Nellai Royal Kings and Ba11sy Trichy will meet in the 28th match. Ba11sy Trichy are already out of the tournament and will look to end the TNPL 2023 on a high by winning their last match of the season. Nellai Royal Kings have already gathered the third position in the points table.
