A Patna- Delhi flight of IndiGo airlines made an emergency landing at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, Patna mere three minutes after its take- off from here on Friday morning. Airport director Anchal Prakash said the pilot reported one of the engines inoperative, following which the flight started returning to the airport within three minutes of departure and landed safely here at 9.11am.
“Altogether 181 passengers and eight crew members were on board,” the director said, adding that the airline was accommodating all passengers in a separate flight, which was expected to depart at 11.40am. “All operations were normal at the airport,” Prakash said.
Sharing the experience of emergency landing, Neeraj Agarwal, one of the passengers on board the flight, said: “I experienced an emergency landing of a flight for the first time in my life. The pilot made the announcement of emergency landing after which we started feeling turbulence along with loud noises. The air- hostess told us to hold the seats in front of us with both our hands tightly and put our head between our hands when told.”
He added: “People were scared thereafter and there was tension in the flight, especially due to sounds coming from the aircraft. People were praying to God. When the plane started landing at Patna airport, the air-hostess made an announcement to bend down our heads in between our hands. The flight landed with turbulence but everybody was relieved when we touched the ground.” Another woman passenger said she was also scared and was praying for safety. “I had faith in God and am thankful that everybody is safe.”
