Foods responsible for regulating energy levels

There are many factors that can affect your energy level throughout the day. While a type of sleep disorder might be causing drowsiness in the morning, other lifestyle habits, diet and high-stress levels could lower your energy during the day. Weather can also play a role in having low energy levels during the daytime. The hot months can disbalance your electrolyte level and cause dehydration. Many people could be affected by the fluctuation of neurotransmitters like serotonin in the brain. This only means that certain nutrients and minerals could be in deficit in the body that are responsible for causing fatigue and tiredness. Lack of exercise is another factor that results in low energy at times.

Bananas: "Bananas are a notable source of vitamin B6, which is involved in converting food into energy. Vitamin B6 helps your body metabolize carbohydrates and fuels energy production. Magnesium is another mineral found in bananas that contributes to energy production," wrote Lovneet Batra. Quinoa: Quinoa is a whole grain that contains a fibre which affects the energy of the body and is retained for a longer time. "Quinoa is a complex carbohydrate that contains a good amount of dietary fibre. Complex carbohydrates are broken down slowly by the body, providing a steady and sustained release of energy," as per the expert. Yoghurt: Our gut health also affects our energy level as it is responsible for various functions in the body, including digestion and nutrient absorption. Lovneet Batra suggested, "Yogurt contains beneficial bacteria called probiotics that support a healthy gut environment and aid in digestion. By promoting efficient digestion and nutrient absorption, probiotics indirectly contribute to maintaining stable energy levels. When choosing yoghurt for an energy boost, opt for plain or Greek yoghurt without added sugars."

Chia seeds: As per the expert, chia seeds are an excellent source of prolonged energy, thanks to their carbohydrate content, healthy fats and fibre. Steel-cut oats : Steel-cut oats are whole grains and contain complex carbohydrates. They are high in dietary fibre, including both soluble and insoluble fibre. Fibre slows down digestion and prevents energy crashes.

Five foods that are responsible for regulating your energy levels throughout the day.
