Swamp De Vallvidrera - Local name: Pantà De Vallvidrera. Pantà De Vallvidrera is a water reservoir with a dam, which was founded in the late nineteenth century according to the design of Elies Rogent. Currently it is a monument of water engineering. The area around the reservoir is a well-known recreation area, there is a bar nearby, and you can also use walking routes.
Tourists will also find many other interesting sights, including the former gatehouse with a pink façade and a tunnel through which the electric train route ran at the beginning of the 20th century. It was the first passenger railway of this type in Spain.
The dam was erected to enable the supply of water to the independent municipality of Sarrià at that time. The area around the reservoir along with its banks was cleaned in 2005-2006 in order to eliminate the vegetation overgrowing the pane. It was about protecting natural flora and fauna - a large population of amphibians lives here, including Mediterranean tree frogs.
Picnic area with a pink building that is the house of the swamp guard . The guard was in charge of controlling the water level. Now in this building there is an exhibition about the environment and they carry out activities related to the Vallvidrera pantà.
The path continues along a long series of stairs and at the end of them is the Pantà de Vallvidrera, where children will like to see ducks, turtles and frogs . Although turtles shouldn't be here because they are an invasive species. Currently, it is a very beautiful area, but a few years ago it was very neglected, and more like a dump than a swamp.
